John Herrera to Star in Songs for Fathers, Sons and Daughters at Village Players

Chicago native and Tony-nominated Broadway performer John Herrera will bring back his concert show, Songs for Fathers, Sons and Daughters, to Village Players Performing Arts, on June 14 at 7:30 pm.

The show will feature Herrera singing a mix of both pop and Broadway selections, including “The Cat’s in the Cradle”, “Fathers and Sons,” and a song about his daughter “Beautiful Girl.” There’s a song in Spanish from The Mambo Kings and “Cuban Pete” made famous by Desi Arnaz on the I Love Lucy show. Piano accompaniment is by Kimberly Widmer.

Herrera was Tony nominated for his role of Neville in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and his other Broadway credits include Evita, 1776, Camelot, Man of La Mancha, The Threepenny Opera, Shogun, The Musical, and Grease. At he Village Players, he starred in The Medium At Large last fall, and his other Chicago credits include Che in Evita (Shubert Theater) and George in Sunday in the Park with George (Goodman Theatre), for which he received a Jefferson Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.
