CuDC Announces 2008-2009 Mead Theatre Lab Season at Flashpoint

The Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC) has announced the upcoming 2008-2009 Mead Theatre Lab Season at Flashpoint, which will include six productions by up-and-coming DC-area theater companies, playwrights and choreographers.

The season will open with The Butcher, September 13, a collaborative piece created by Merry Alderman and Gwydion Suilebhan, which will feature Maia DeSanti, Tim Getman, Dan Istrate, Susan Lynskey, Scot McKenzie, Saskia de Vries, and Joseph Price. Alderman will direct. Dog & Pony DC will present Punch – that’s the way we do it!, November 6-22, an exaggerated live action version of a classic puppet story written and directed by Wyckham Avery.

Jane Franklin Dance will present Incidence, December 4-14, a collaboration between choreographer Jane Franklin, composer Gina Biver, and installation artist Howard Connelly; Giani Clarkson will take the stage with Fema’s 1603, January 16-25, with direction by D. Wambui Richardson; Jjana Valentiner will present her solo work titled Funeral Potatoes , January 31-February 15; Jacqueline E. Lawton’s Deep Belly Beautiful will take the stage, April 3-26, with Danielle Drakes at the helm.
