As previously reported, earlier this year the Intiman canceled the remainder of its 2011 season. It also laid off its staff and suspended day-to-day operations.
Russell, who was Intiman's former associate producer, plans to mount a "micro-season" at the Intiman in the summer of 2012. The theater also has plans to open its playhouse to other arts groups as it tries to pay off its debts.
In conjunction with Intiman's Board, Russell will be crafting a plan to present to arts funders and the theater's landlord, Seattle Center. Russell is currently in his position through October 1, and his continuation as artistic director is dependent upon the acceptance and implementation of the plan.
