Chagall and the Artists of the Russian Jewish Theater to Exhibit in NYC and San Francisco

A new art exhibition, Chagall and the Artists of the Russian Jewish Theater, 1919-1949, will be on view on New York’s Jewish Museum, November 9-March 22, and San Francisco’s Contemporary Jewish Museum, April 25-September 7.

The exhibit will feature over 200 works of art and ephemera, many of which have never been shown, including Marc Chagall’s legendary murals for Moscow’s GOSET Theater.
Other artists whose work will be shown include Natan Altman, Robert Falk, Ignaty Nivinsky, Isaac Rabinovich, and Alexsandr Tyshler.

Productions that will be represented in the show include King Lear, The Golem, The Sorceress: An Eccentric Jewish Play, At Night at the Old Marketplace, and The Dybbuk.
