Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the new work planned for its upcoming off-Broadway season. The lineup will include two commissions by Roundabout Underground alumni Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone) and Joshua Harmon (Significant Other) as well as a New York premiere by Anna Ziegler (Boy). A new play by Jiréh Breon Holder will be the first work of Roundabout Underground's 2017-2018 season.

The 2017-2018 off-Broadway season at Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre will kick of with the New York premiere of The Last Match (September 28-December 24) by Anna Ziegler, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch. In the play, it's the semifinals of the U.S. Open, and two tennis greats are facing off in the match of their lives. Lindsey Ferrentino's Amy and the Orphans (February 1-April 22, 2018), which will be directed by Scott Ellis, follows "two unhinged siblings" who, after their father's death, "reunite with Amy, their movie-loving sister who has Down syndrome." Skintight (May 24, 2018-August 26, 2018), written by Joshua Harmon and directed by Daniel Aukin, is described as "a scorching examination of beauty, youth, and sex."

The first in Roundabout Underground's two-play 2017-2018 season will be Too Heavy for Your Pocket by Jiréh Breon Holder, recipient of the 2017 Laurents/Hatcher Foundation Award. Playwrights Ferrentino and Joshua return to the Steinberg Center following their own productions as part of Roundabout Underground. Ferrentino's Ugly Lies the Bone, which starred Mamie Gummer last season, will be produced by the National Theatre in London next month. Harmon's hit play Bad Jews was the first Underground play to transfer to the Laura Pels Theatre, and his play Significant Other, which premiered at the Laura Pels Theatre in 2015, will be the second play by an Underground playwright to transfer to Broadway, following Stephen Karam's The Humans last season.

As part of the Underground’s mission, each participating playwright receives a commission for a new play, demonstrating commitment to the writers' careers.
