James Prendergast has replaced Simon Jones in TACT/The Actors Company Theatre’s production of Václav Havel’s The Memorandum. Jenn Thompson will direct the production, which will play the Beckett Theatre, October 25-November 27, with an opening on November 4.

Jones, who is the company’s co-artistic director, was injured on October 8 after he and his son Tim were hit by a car in midtown Manhattan and has decided he is not fully recovered.
Neither Jones nor his son sustained serious injuries.

The play is a spiky satire of bureaucracy gone mad. When the managing director of an enormous organization discovers that all office communications are suddenly being written in “Ptydepe,” a newly invented and impossibly complicated language, his attempts to get one memo translated lead him through an increasingly ridiculous maze of red tape.

The cast will also include Mark Alhadeff , Nilanjana Bose, Trent Dawson, Jeffrey C. Hawkins, Joel Leffert, Kate Levy, John Plumpis, and Lynn Wright.

The creative team will include Adrian W. Jones (sets), David Toser (costumes), Philip S. Rosenberg (lights), Stephen Kunken (sound), and Joseph Trapanese (original music).
