John Lithgow to Host National Book Awards

Tony Award winner John Lithgow will host the ceremony for the National Book Awards, to be held in Manhattan on Wednesday, November 16.

Awards will be presented in the categories of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and young people’s literature. Winners each receive $10,000, while finalist each receive $1,000.


Nominated writers include Deborah Baker, Stephen Greenblatt, Albert Marrin, Adrienne Rich, Edith Perlman, Bruce Smith, and Jesmyn Ward.


In addition, poet John Ashberry and bookstore owner Mitchell Kaplan will receive the lifetime achievement awards.
