Manhattan Concert Productions has become known for its annual acclaimed one-night concert stagings of beloved Broadway musicals. Following last night's production of Jason Robert Brown and Alfred Uhry's musical Parade, the company has announced that 2016 will see a staging of Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon's The Secret Garden. The concert event is set for February 22, 2016. Like MCP's previous staged concerts, which also include Ragtime and Titanic, it is set to take place at Avery Fisher Hall.

The Secret Garden, which opened at the St. James Theatre in April 1991 and played 709 performances before closing in January 1993, is based on the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The musical features music by Lucy Simon and book and lyrics by Marsha Norman. The original Broadway cast featured Mandy Patinkin, Alison Fraser, Rebecca Luker, Robert Westenberg, John Cameron Mitchell, and Daisy Eagan, who won a Tony Award for her performance as Mary Lennox.

As with Manhattan Concert Production's previous concert stagings, The Secret Garden will likely feature a professional Broadway cast, a full choir, and the New York City Chamber Orchestra. No casting for this production has yet been announced.
