The Amoralists Theatre Company has announced its 2013 theater season. The season will begin with Lyle Kessler's Collision in January, and conclude with Derek Ahonen's The Cheaters Club in fall 2013.
This downtown theatre company self describes as "dedicated to an honest expression of the American condition." The Amoralists' recent works include The Bad and the Better, The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, and site-specific HotelMotel.
The world premiere of Collision, written by Lyle Kessler (Orphans), will be directed by David Fofi. Collision will begin previews on January 10 with a January 22 opening at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. According to the company, Collision is about "a band of incongruous intellectuals with hidden scars embarks on a dangerous course to create order out of chaos. What happens when all the wrong people meet at exactly the right time?"
The cast for Collision includes Michael Cullen (Bus Stop), Craig "muMs" Grant (HBO's Oz), and Amoralist Ensemble members James Kautz, Nick Lawson and Anna Stromberg, who all appeared in The Bad and the Better.
The creative team for Collision includes Phil Carluzzo (Sound Design), Michael J. Kessler (Assistant Director), Judy Merrick (Stage Manager), Keith Parham (Lighting Design), Alfred Schatz (Set Design), and Jaime Torres (Costume Design.)
In the summer of 2013, the Amoralists will present the New York premiere of Rantoul and Die, written and directed by Mark Roberts. The world premiere of The Cheaters Club, a Savannah horror story by Derek Ahonen (co-founder and associate artistic director of the Amoralists), will follow in fall 2013.
