Lisa D’Amour’s Detroit will be the first production of Playwrights Horizons’ 2012/2013 season, and will be presented at the company’s Mainstage Theater Fall 2012.

Anne Kauffman will direct this all new production of Detroit, which is set in the adjacent backyards of two recovering addicts and their anxious middle-class neighbors. The play was a 2011 Pulitzer Prize finalist, and D’Amour received a 2011 Steinberg Playwright Award winner for her body of work.

Detroit, which received its world premiere at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in September 2010, had previously been announced to come to Broadway under the helm of its original director, Austin Pendleton. As recently reported, Pendleton will now direct the London premiere of the play, which will feature an all-new British cast.

Casting and additional details for the Playwrights Horizons’ production of Detroit, as well as five additional productions for the 2012/2013 Season, will be announced in the coming months.
