Christian Bale, Jesse Eisenberg, Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network, et al. Receive National Board of Review Awards

The National Board of Review (NBR) has announced the winners of its annual awards, according to a report in Variety. Meredith Vierira will host the ceremony on January 11 at which the prizes will be presented.

The movie The Social Network has garnered four awards, including Best Film. Jesse Eisenberg has also won as Best Actor and prizes have also gone to David Fincher as Best Director and playwright/screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has won in the Adapted Screenplay category.

The NBR also named a top 10 list of films for the year (not including The Social Network). Those films are, in alphabetical order: Another Year, The Fighter, Hereafter, Inception, The King’s Speech,Shutter Island, The Town, Toy Story 3, True Grit, and Winter’s Bone.

The other performers who have received NBR awards are Lesley Manville, who’s been named Best Actress for her work in Another Year; Christian Bale, who has received the Best Supporting Actor prize for The Fighter; Jacki Weaver, who has won the Supporting Actress Award for Animal Kingdom; and Jennifer Lawrence, who has picked up the prize for Breakthrough Performance for her work in Winter’s Bone.

In addition, the movie Of Gods and Men has won the Foreign Film Award, Waiting for Superman has won in the Documentary category, Toy Story 3 has been named the Best Animated Film, and The Town has won for Best Ensemble cast.
