Nicholas Martin to Step Down as Williamstown Theater Festival Artistic Director

Williamstown Theater Festival’s current artistic director Nicholas Martin will exit the post next summer, following his third season, according to a report in The New York Times.

Martin’s Broadway production of Present Laughter will open in January, and his other Main Stem credits include Match, Butley, and Hedda Gabler. He previously headed Boston’s Huntington Theatre Company.

According to the Times, the Williamstown Theater Festival’s board has begun a search for Martin’s successor.
