Kristine Nielsen and Michael Tucker will star in the Manhattan Theater Club’s world premiere production of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Based on a Totally True Story, March 23-May 28. The show, to be directed by Michael Bush, will open officially on April 11. Additional casting and creative personnel will be announced at a later date.

The play concerns Ethan Keene, a young playwright and comic book writer who is on the verge of breaking through. When a veteran Hollywood producer decides that she wants to turn one of his plays into a horror movie, the frenzy that follows forces Ethan to deal with the real drama in his life: his relationships with his boyfriend and his father.

Nielsen is currently starring in Christopher’s Durang’s Miss Witherspoon at Playwrights Horizons. Her other credits include A Streetcar Named Desire, The Green Bird, and Betty’s Summer Vacation. Tucker has been seen on Broadway in Moonchildren, Trelawny of the “Wells”, and The Goodbye People. He is best known for his role of Stuart Markowitz on the hit TV series L.A. Law, which he played opposite his real-life wife, Jill Eikenberry.
