An updated line-up of performers has been announced for Cooper Union’s Women’s Suffrage and Women’s Rights, to be held as part of the “Great Evenings in The Great Hall” series, on Thursday, November 19, at 6:30pm. Lauren Keating will direct.

Broadway actress Brenda Wehle, performance artist Karen Finley, and NOW co-founder and ex-president Karen DeCrow will portray some of our nation’s most ardent early feminists, including Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Victoria Woodhull, and Emma Goldman. Meanwhile, Tony Award winner Andre De Shields will portray outspoken statesman and suffragist Frederick Douglass, while Richard Kind will perform classic songs from the suffrage era.

As previously announced, the “Great Evenings in The Great Hall” series will continue on December 1, with actress Olympia Dukakis and playwright Tony Kushner, along with writer Salman Rushdie and others, paying homage to the luminaries who’ve appeared at Cooper Union, like Paul Auster, Pearl S. Buck, and W.H. Auden. Other events will include programs dedicated to Radical Politics (January 21) and Abraham Lincoln (February 25). All of the entries in the series will be offered free-of-charge.
