Andrea Burns, Robin de Jesus, Mandy Gonzalez, John Herrera, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Karen Olivo, and co-author Lin-Manuel Miranda will head the 22-member cast of In the Heights, a new musical to play an open-ended run at 37 Arts. The show, which will be directed by Thomas Kail, will begin performances on January 9, with an official opening slated for February 8.

The show, which features a score by Miranda and a book by playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes, focuses on two days in the life of the Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights. Miranda and Kail are both members of the hip-hop improv troupe Freestyle Love Supreme.

The show's creative team will include Andy Blankenbuehler (choreography), Anna Louizos (sets), Paul Tazewell (costumes), Jason Lyons (lighting), Acme Sound Partners (sound), Alex Lacamoire (music direction/orchestrations), and Bill Sherman (orchestrations).

The cast will also feature Janet Dacal, Christopher Jackson, Rosie Fiedelman, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Joshua Henry, Nina Lafarga, Doreen Montalvo, Javier Munoz, Eliseo Roman, Luis Salgado, Seth Stewart, Rickey Tripp, Michael Balderamma, and Stephanie Klemons.
