Peter and the Starcatcher, the Tony Award-winning prequel to the story of Peter Pan, will play its final performance at New World Stages on January 12, 2014, producers announced Thursday.

This play, based on the Disney-Hyperion novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, tells the tale of an orphan who heads to a faraway land, where he finds love, friendship, and, ultimately, himself. Peter and the Starcatcher is composed of a company of twelve actors.

Written by Tony Award nominee Rick Elice (Jersey Boys) and codirected by Tony Award winner Roger Rees (The Winslow Boy) and Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Rocky), Peter and the Starcatcher began off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in March 2011. In April 2012, the production transferred to Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre where it went on to win five Tony Awards, including one for the featured performance of Christian Borle (Smash). The production transferred back off-Broadway to New World Stages in July 2013.

The current cast of Peter and the Starcatcher includes Rick Holmes, Nicole Lowrance, Jordan Geiger, Edward Baker-Duly, Matt D'Amico, Kevin Del Aguila, Jimmy Kieffer, Josh Grisetti, Alex Hernandez, Nate Miller, Andrew Mueller, Jon Patrick Walker, Joanna Howard, Evan Johnson, José Restrepo, and Graham Stevens.
