Fans and members of the press were invited to the Shubert Theatre on Thursday, October 20 for a special performance by Adam Pascal and the cast of Memphis in anticipation of the actor’s joining the Broadway production as Huey Calhoun on October 25.

On hand to introduce Pascal, co-star Montego Glover and the company were composer David Bryan and book writer Joe DiPietro.

Memphis is directed by Christopher Ashley, and features choreography by Sergio Trujillo and orchestrations by Daryl Waters. It won four 2010 Tony Awards, for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Orchestrations.

Set in the segregated South of the 1950s, the show follows the fictionalized life story of white radio disc jockey Huey Calhoon, who falls in love with both rock & roll and an electrifying black singer, Felicia Farrell.

Pascal received a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Roger Davis in Rent, a performance he reprised in the film version of the musical. His other Broadway credits include Aida and Cabaret.
