Carmen de Lavallade, Daphne Rubin-Vega, et al. to Be Honored at Castillo Theatre Gala

Actress, dancer, and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade has been added to the list of honorees for the Castillo Theatre’s annual gala, entitled Women Onstage, to be held at All Stars Project headquarters, on November 7 at 6:30pm.

As previously reported, honorees will also include Living Theatre founder/artistic director Judith Malina, Tony-nominated actress Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Gabrielle L. Kurlander, the president and CEO of the All Stars Project.

De Lavallade made her professional debut at the age of 17 with the Lester Horton Dance Theatre in the title role in Salome. She debuted as principal dance artist with the Metropolitan Opera shortly afterwards, later returning as a choreographer. Her acting work includes her Clarence Bayfield Award winning performance as Emilia in Othello, as well as roles in Ruby Dee’s Step Mother and Regina Taylor’s Post Black. Film credits include Lone Star and Big Daddy.
