Dr. Sex to Close Prematurely on October 9

Dr. Sex, the musical by Larry Bortniker and Sally Deering about the famed sex researcher Alfred Kinsey, will close on October 9 rather than continuing its limited run through October 30 as originally planned. At the time of its closing, the show will have played a total of 69 performances: 24 previews and 45 regular performances.

Brian Noonan and Jennifer Simard star in the show as Kinsey and his wife, Clara. The cast also includes Christopher Corts, Jared Bradshaw, Linda Cameron, David Edwards, Chrisy Faber, Colleen Hawks, and Benjie Randall.

In his review of the show, Brian Scott Lipton wrote: “What makes Dr. Sex desperately in need of its own (show) doctor is the book. Having chosen to center the musical on the real-life Dr. Kinsey and his wife Clara, about whom much has been written and even filmed, the creators inexplicably underdevelop these characters.”
