Marni Nixon will host a gala concert to benefit the Music at Saint Alban’s series at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 30 at the Music Hall at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, located at 1000 Richmond Terrace on Staten Island.

The concert, titled “Remembering the Golden Age,” will feature music from Broadway and the movies. Also set to perform are members of the London Baroque Ensemble, Metropolitan Opera soprano Tonna Miller, Taiwanese-American pianist Hsia-Jung Chang, soprano Laurelyn Watson, tenor David Michael Chase, pianist Jason Andrews, and the Saint Alban’s Festival Choral Society, conducted by founding artistic director Jeffrey Hoffman.

Nixon has appeared on Broadway in The Girl in Pink Tights, James Joyce’s The Dead, Follies, and Nine, in addition to her many Off-Broadway and regional theater credits. She is also a highly respected classical artist. But she is best known for having dubbed the singing voices of stars in various films, including Deborah Kerr in The King and I and An Affair to Remember, Natalie Wood in West Side Story, and Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. Nixon’s autobiography, I Could Have Sung All Night, was recently published; she will sign copies of the book immediately following the Snug Harbor concert.

Music at Alban’s is a series of classical concerts presented annually by Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church of Staten Island. Tickets for the September 30 event are priced at $35. For more information, or to order tickets, click here.
