Lynn Redgrave will join Austin Pendelton for a talkback immediately following the performance of Pendleton’s play Orson’s Shadow on Wednesday, September 7.

Set in 1960, Orson’s Shadow is a fictional account of the ill-fated professional collaboration between two theatrical legends, Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier, on a London production of Eugene Ionesco’s Rhinoceros. The stars John Ahlin, Susan Bennett, Patrick Edgar, Ken Marks, Scott Parkinson, and Lee Roy Rogers (who received a Drama Desk nomination for her portrayal of Vivien Leigh). It will celebrate its 200th performance on September 4.

Pendleton, well known as an actor whose credits include the original Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof and the film What Up, Doc?, is also the author of the plays Booth and Uncle Bob. In 1981, he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Director for the revival of The Little Foxes that starred Elizabeth Taylor.

Redgrave was a founding member of the National Theatre under the direction of Olivier. Her parents, Sir Michael Redgrave and Lady Rachel Kempson, were Olivier’s contemporaries. She recently appeared on Broadway in The Constant Wife and Off-Broadway in a reading of her solo play Nightingale. In 2003, Redgrave received both the Drama Desk and Obie Awards for her performance in Talking Heads. Next year, she will be seen as Lady Bracknell in Sir Peter Hall’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
