Obie Award winner David Patrick Kelly will be among the cast members of More Or Less I Am, a music-theater adaptation of Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself,” to be presented in venues throughout the city, September 8-11. Karin Coonrod will direct.

The piece, which is a poet’s eloquent tribute to a nation’s ideals on the brink of civil war, is being presented by Compagnia de’ Colombari in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It aims to offer New Yorkers a timely reminder of America’s diversity, interdependence, and optimism as they reflect on the events of ten years ago and the ways in which it both unified and polarized the country.

The cast will also feature Dietrice Bolden, Ayeje Feamster, Nicole Mitchell, Giovanni Pucci, Michael Rogers, Jorge Rubio, Leigh Wade, Cheyanne Young, Colin and Eric Jacobsen, Kyle Sanna, and Alex Sopp.

More Or Less I Am features original music composed by Colin and Eric Jacobsen, members of the genre-defying string ensemble Brooklyn Rider, and Kyle Sanna.

The production will be presented free-of-charge at Pier 46 in Hudson River Park (September 8 at 7pm); Calhoun School (September 9 at 7pm); Brooklyn Historical Society (September 10a t 2pm); Park Avenue Christian Church (September 10 at 8pm); and Old Stone House in Brooklyn (September 11 at 3pm).
