Complete Programming Announced for NY Philharmonic’s A Shakespeare Scenario on September 17

Complete programming has been announced for the New York Philharmonic’s Henry V: A Shakespeare Scenario, to be narrated by Christopher Plummer, to take place at Avery Fisher Hall on Saturday, September 17, at 8pm. Alan Gilbert will conduct the event.

The program will feature music from Sir William Walton’s Oscar-nominated score for the Laurence Olivier film of Shakespeare’s Henry V. The evening will begin with the Overture and Bacchanal from Wagner’s Tannhauser.

Joining the New York Philharmonic will be the Manhattan School of Music Symphonic Chorus and Chamber Choir and The American Boychoir..

Plummer won Tony Awards for Cyrano and Barrymore and most recently appeared on Broadway in Inherit the Wind and King Lear. He won the Evening Standard Award for the London production of Becket and frequently performs at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. His many film and television credits include The Sound of Music, The Man Who Would Be King, and A Beautiful Mind, as well as The Last Station, for which he received an Academy Award nomination.
