Cage/Cunningham Documentary to Be Shown at John Cage Birthday Tribute

Filmmaker Elliot Caplan’s 95-minute documentary video Cage/Cunningham will be screened at the 17th Annual John Cage Birthday Tribute, to be held at Danspace Project, St. Mark’s Church Parish Hall, on Saturday, September 5 at 7:30pm.

Cunningham, who died earlier this year, was Cage’s artistic and romantic partner. The film traces the history of their collaboration and examines the associations they had with an incredible range of key figures in art, literature, dance, and music. Caplan will be on hand afterwards to say a few words about the making of the documentary.

The event will also feature Kevin Hufnagel, who will play ambient music for prepared guitar, and Nurit Tilles, who will perform “4’33”.
