Rachel York, Michael Gruber, Vicki Lewis, Clinton Derricks-Carroll, Larry Cedar, and Betty Garrett will star in the Reprise! Broadway Best’s presentation of My One and Only, September 5-17 at UCLA’s Freud Playhouse. The show will be directed and choreographed by Dan Mojica, with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach.

The show features a host of standards by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Peter Stone and Timothy S. Mayer. The plot concerns the romance between Billy Buck Chandler, a determined aviator, and Edith Herbert, a former female swimmer of the English Channel who is now the star of an International Aquacade. It debuted on Broadway in 1983 starring Tommy Tune (who also directed and choreographed the production) and Twiggy. The show ran for over 760 performances.

York, who will play Edith, has starred on Broadway in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Kiss Me, Kate, and Victor/Victoria, for which she received a Drama Desk Award. Gruber, who will play Billy, has appeared on Broadway in A Chorus Line, Cats, Swing!, and Miss Saigon.

Lewis, who will play Mickey, has starred on Broadway in Chicago and Damn Yankees. Derricks-Carroll, who will play the Right Reverend J.D. Montgomery, starred on Broadway in Dreamgirls. Cedar, who will play Prince Nicolai, won L.A.’s Ovation Award for the Reprise! production of She Loves Me.

Garrett, who will play Madam Magix, was a major star at MGM and appeared in the film musical On the Town, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, and Words and Music. Her Broadway credits include Something for the Boys and Call Me Mister, and she is known to millions of TV viewers for her roles on All in the Family and Laverne and Shirley.

The Reprise! season will continue with Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George (January 30-February 11) and Richard Rodgers’ No Strings (May 8-20). For tickets and more information, call 310-825-2101.
