Amick Byram, Liz Callaway, Malcolm Gets, Randy Graff, and Daniel Tatar will star in a staged concert presentation of William Finn’s acclaimed Elegies: A Song Cycle at 8pm on Monday, September 11 at the UCLA Freud Playhouse. The performance, which kicks off Reprise! Broadway’s Best Marvelous Musical Mondays series, will be directed by David Lee, with musical direction by Steven Smith.

Elegies focuses on remembering the lives of people who have been loved, ranging from Finn’s mother and former teacher to victims of the World Trade Center bombing. Among the cycle’s songs are “Mark’s All-Male Thanksgiving,” “Passover,” “Infinite Joy,” and “When the Earth Stopped Turning.” Finn’s other credits include the scores for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, A New Brain, and Falsettos.

The Marvelous Musical Mondays series will continue on February 7 with Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire’s Baby, to be directed by Kevin Chamberlin, who is currently starring on Broadway in Chicago. Last up, on May 14, will be the rarely produced Robert Benton-Charles Strouse-Lee Adams musical It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman; that show will be directed by Stuart Ross, who is best known for his work on Forever Plaid.

As previously reported, the Reprise! series of fully staged musicals will begin on September 5 with My One and Only, starring Rachel York, Michael Gruber, Vicki Lewis, and Betty Garrett.
