Saxe, Shaddow, and Wilson to Star in Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s Earnest

Gareth Saxe, Elena Shaddow, and Steve Wilson will headline the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, September 6-October 2. Tamara Harvey, who co-directed the recent West End production of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, will helm the show.

Also in the cast are Jane Altman, Susan Grenhill, Davis Hall, Carolyn Kozlowski, Brian Schlib, and Richard Waddingham. The production’s creative team consists of Cameron Anderson (sets), Michael McAleer (costumes), Michael Giannitti (lighting), and Steven L. Becker (sound).

Saxe, who will play Jack, has been seen Off-Broadway in Echoes of the War and Outward Bound. Earlier this summer, he starred as Valmont in the Shakespeare Theatre’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Shaddow, who will play Cecily, appeared in the recent Broadway revivals of Fiddler on the Roof and Nine. Wilson, who will play Algernon, has been seen on Broadway in The Frogs and By Jeeves.

Harvey’s other directing credits include Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare’s Globe and the United Kingdom tour of The Graduate. On Thursday, September 15 at 7pm, she will present the educational program “Know The Show” before that evening’s performance; the lecture is open to everyone, with tickets priced at $4 (subscribers) and $5 (general public).
