Grease‘s Derek Keeling to Sing National Anthem at NYC Triathalon

Derek Keeling, who will soon take over the lead role of Danny Zuko in Grease, will sing the National Anthem at the 8th Annual New York City Triathlon on Sunday, July 20, at 5:40 am at the Barge 99th Street at the Hudson River.

Keeling was a finalist on the NBC reality series Grease: You’re the One That I Want. He and fellow finalist Ashley Spencer as Sandy, will begin their Broadway run at the Brooks Atkinson theater on July 22.

This production of Grease, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, features the original book, music, and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, plus four songs that were written by others for the 1978 film version: “Sandy,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You’re the One That I Want,” and “Grease.” The production received a 2008 Tony nomination Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

The Nautica New York City Triathlon brings together professional athletes, celebrities and triathlon enthusiasts from around the country to test their stamina and strength. The triathlon consists of a 1500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike, 10-kilometer run.
