Shelley, Innvar, Cronyn Set for Barrington Earnest

Tony Award-winner Carole Shelley will star as Lady Bracknell in Julianne Boyd’s production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest at Barrington Stage Company, July 21-August 7.

The show’s cast also includes Christopher Innvar as Jack Worthing, Mark H. Dold as Algernon, Tandy Cronyn as Miss Prism, Meredith Zinner as Cecily, Jordan Simmons as Gwendolyn, Robert Zukerman as Lane and the Reverend Chausable, and Geoffrey Murphy as Merriman. The production will have sets by Michael Anania, costumes by Elizabeth Flauto, lighting by Scott Pinkney, and sound design by Randy Hansen.

Shelley won a Tony Award for Best Actress for her role in The Elephant Man, as well as Tony nominations for her roles in Stepping Out and Absurd Person Singular. Her other Broadway credits include Cabaret, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Show Boat, and the original production of The Odd Couple, in which she played Gwendolyn Pigeon, a role she reprised in the film version.

Most recently, Shelley created the role of Madame Morrible in Wicked, and she can currently be seen as Aunt Clara in the film Bewitched.
