Tony Bennett Set for September 18 Metropolitan Opera Concert

Tony Bennett will offer a one-night-only concert at The Metropolitan Opera on Sunday, September 18 at 7pm. The event will be the first in a series of events celebrating Bennett’s 85th birthday and precede the release of his forthcoming album, Duets II, to be released on September 20.

The concert will feature pop standards from the Great American Songbook. Joining Bennett for the event will be pianist Lee Musiker, guitarist Gray Sargent, drummer Harold Jones, and bassist Marshall Wood.

Bennett has won 15 Grammy Awards. Among his many recordings are The Art of Excellence, Steppin’ Out, Perfectly Frank, Playin’ With My Friends, and The Art of Romance. In addition, he has authored three books What My Heart Has Seen, The Good Life, and Tony Bennett In the Studio, and he has been the subject of both a filmed biography produced by Clint Eastwood and a major television special, Tony Bennett: An American Classic.
