Tony Award-winning actress Linda Lavin will star in the Vineyard Theatre’s production of Nicky Silver’s The Lyons, which will begin previews on September 21. The production, to open officially on October 11, will be directed by Mark Brokaw. The cast will also include Michael Esper and Gregory Woodell.

Lavin will star as Rita, the head of a family of grown children struggling to make emotional connections with one another after the death of its patriarch, her husband.

Lavin is currently playing Hattie Walker in the Kennedy Center Follies production of Follies, but will not transfer to Broadway with the production. She co-starred in Lincoln Center Theatre’s production of Other Desert Cities, which is rumored to have a run on Broadway this fall. She received a Tony for Broadway Bound and her other credits include The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, Gypsy, and The New Century.
