Disney’s Tarzan to Hit Broadway in Spring 2006

Disney Presents Tarzan, a new musical based on the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs novel and the 1999 animated Disney film, will come to Broadway in the spring of 2006 at a theater to be named.

Two-time Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (Aida, Carousel) will direct and design the show’s sets and costumes. The score will be composed by six-time Grammy Award winner Phil Collins, who wrote some songs for Disney’s Tarzan film, and the book will be written by Tony winner David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly). The production will feature choreography by Meryl Tankard; aerial movement designed by Pichon Baldinu; lighting by Natasha Katz; and sound by John Shivers. There will be a cast of 34, but no names have yet been announced.

Disney Theatrical Productions is currently represented on Broadway by The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
