Yasmina Reza's The God of Carnage, will close as scheduled at the Gielgud Theatre on June 14, having recouped its entire investment, and producers are aiming for a Broadway bow in 2009 and an Australian production in 2010.

The show, which features a translation by Christopher Hampton and direction by Matthew Warchus, stars Tony Award winners Ralph Fiennes and Janet McTeer, Olivier Award winner Tamsin Greig, and British stage veteran Ken Stott.

In the play, Fiennes plays the lawyer father of a 9-year-old boy who has hit another child on the playground. The victim's parents (played by McTeer and Stott) then invite Fiennes and his wife (to be played by Grieg) to discuss the matter.

Reza's other plays include Art, The Unexpected Man, Life x 3, and A Spanish Play.
