The Astoria Performing Arts Center has announced plans to present Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II's Allegro for a limited engagement at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Astoria. Performances will run from May 1-May 17, with an opening night on May 3. The production is choreographed by Christine O'Grady, music-directed by Julianne B. Merrill, and directed by Tom Wojtunik.
Allegro follows the journey of Joseph Taylor Jr., the son of a small-town doctor, from birth to age 35 as he moves from the tranquility of his small Midwestern hometown to the hectic pace of big city life.
The production stars Mark Banik as Joseph Taylor Jr., Daniella Dalli as Marjorie Taylor, Marcie Henderson as Mrs. Lansdale, Crystal Kellogg as Jennie Brinker, Kelly King as Brook Lansdale, Andy Lebon as Dr. Joseph Taylor, Jean Liuzzi as Grandma Taylor, Christopher Milo as Young Joe, Manna Nichols as Emily West, Jan-Peter Pedross as Dr. Bigby Denby, Tony Perry as Ned Brinker, Fiona Shea as Young Jennie, and Joshua Stenseth as Charlie Townsend. Ensemble members include Laura Stracko Franks, Julia Freyer, and Carl James. Alyssa Malgeri, Gilbert Sanchez, Robbie Smith, and Toni Elizabeth White.
The design team includes scenic design by Stephen K. Dobay, costume design by Summer Lee Jack, and lighting design by Dan Jobbins.
