Larry Pine (The Royal Family), Frank Wood (Clybourne Park), Amanda Quaid (Cock), and Brian Sgambati (The Merchant of Venice) have been cast in Soho Rep's upcoming world premiere production of Lucas Hnath's A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney. Soho Rep artistic director Sarah Benson will helm the production, which will run April 30-May 26, with an opening on May 9.
The play centers on the reading of a fictional screenplay written by Walt Disney during the last days of his life. In the screenplay, Disney writes about a city he wants to build that would change the world.
The creative team will include Mimi Lien (set), Kaye Voyce (costume), Matt Frey (lighting), Matt Tierney (sound), and Jon Knust (props).
Hnath's previous plays include Red Speedo, Hillary and Clinton, and The Courtship of Anna Nicole Smith. He has been a resident playwright at New Dramatists since 2011.
