Shuler Hensley, Linda Lavin, LaChanze Set for Prince of Broadway

Sebastian Arcelus, Sierra Boggess, Daniel Breaker, Josh Grisetti, Shuler Hensley, Richard Kind, Amanda Kloots-Larsen, Linda Lavin, LaChanze, Caroline O’Connor, David Pittu, and Emily Skinner will be featured in the musical retrospective Prince of Broadway. The show will be directed by Prince and Susan Stroman, who will also choreograph. As previously reported, it is scheduled to open on Broadway in November 2012 in a theater to be announced.

David Thompson will write the book for the show, which will celebrate and re-examine material from Prince’s theater career, drawing on songs from some of the musicals in which he has been involved, such as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Cabaret, Company, Damn Yankees, Fiorello!, Follies, Fiddler on the Roof, It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Merrily We Roll Along, Parade, She Loves Me, and Sweeney Todd.

In addition to casting, the creative team for the production has been announced and will include scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer William Ivey Long, lighting designer Howell Binkley, and sound designer Jonathan Deans. The production will also feature musical supervision, incidental music, vocal and dance arrangements by Jason Robert Brown, orchestrations by Don Sebesky and musical direction by Eric Stern.
