April Wowers!

Karen Akers, Kristy Cates, Tammy Grimes, Euan Morton, Donny Osmond, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Neil Sedaka, Victoria Shaw, and Keely Smith are on the nightlife scene this month.

April may bring showers to the sky, but it brings plenty of wowers to the city’s nightlife spots!

For example, Feinstein’s at the Regency offers a truly something-for-everyone lineup: Tony Award winner Betty Buckley (through April 7), comedian Jackie Mason (April 10-21), daytime diva Eileen Fulton (April 22, 23, 29, and 30) and pop idol Donny Osmond in Love Songs of the 1970s (April 24-28).

Meanwhile, the ageless and ever-powerful Keely Smith makes her debut at the Café Carlyle (April 2-28). The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel hosts that well-loved pair Mark Nadler and KT Sullivan, saluting the late-great songwriting team of Betty Comden and Adolph Green in a show called Make Someone Happy (through April 14), followed by one of the club’s favorite stars, Karen Akers, in a show dedicated to one of Comden and Green’s favorite collaborators, the late Jule Styne (April 17-May 12).

Jim Caruso’s Broadway series at Birdland resumes with a series of concerts by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown and the Caucasian Rhythm Kings (April 4-7), followed by Brown’s lovely wife, singer-songwriter Georgia Stitt (April 9), country superstar Victoria Shaw (April 16), the award-winning a cappella group Toxic Audio (April 23), and a salute to the music of Steve Marzullo, featuring a star-studded lineup of guest singers including Liz Callaway, Judy McLane, Liz Larsen, and Ann Harada (April 30).

Over at Joe’s Pub, Jackie Hoffman concludes her acclaimed Jackie with a Z show (April 8, 15), while the inimitable Kiki & Herb continue to thrill the crowd every Sunday night. Elsewhere on the musical front, highlights include Broadway stars Daphne Rubin-Vega (April 9) and Jesse Tyler-Ferguson (April 10) and three great singer-songwriters, Stew (April 16), Neil Sedaka (April 24-25), and Michael Penn (April 28-30),

At The Metropolitan Room, the eclectic and exciting list of performers includes funny lady Kristine Zbornik (April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30), pianist Kathleen Landis with vocalist Evan Stern (April 2, 11), Broadway legend Tammy Grimes (April 4, 5, and 12), Tony nominee Euan Morton (April 15, 22), Steven Brinberg as Simply Barbra (April 23) and the monthly edition of Jamie deRoy & Friends (April 26).

Meanwhile, over at the Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Cafe, the new series Voices from the Great White Way kicks off with Nikki Renee Daniels (April 9), Kristy Cates (April 23), and Farah Alvin (April 30). Other highlights includes performances by Scott Nevins (April 11, 14), David Gurland (April 15), Jeff Martin (April 15), Jana Robbins (April 18), and Jackie Draper (April 22, 27).

At The Triad, the popular revue When The Lights Go On Again, featuring Bill Daugherty, Paul Kropfl, Christina Morrell, and Connie Pachl, has been extended until May 27, while Tarzan star Chester Gregory III will perform a concert on Monday, April 30.

Finally, head to Helen’s every Monday night, where Liz McKendry, a cast member of The Producers, is debuting her new show Love & Pain & The Whole Damn Thing.
