Stephanie Blythe, Philip Glass, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Deborah Voigt, et al. Set for New York Philharmonic Season

Alan Gilbert and The New York Philharmonic have announced programming for the orchestra’s 2011-2012 season.

Highlights include the opening night gala featuring Deborah Voigt (September 21); the world premiere of John Corigliano’s One Sweet Morning featuring Stephanie Blythe (September 30, October 1, October 4); and A New Yorker’s New Year’s Eve, featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein and George Gerswhin, performed by pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet (December 31).

Other artists who will perform with the Philharmonic this season include Yefim Bronfman, Philip Glass, HK Guber, Lang Lang, Garrick Ohlsonn, Peter Serkin, Gil Shaham, John Williams, and Frank Peter Zimmerman.

Award-winning screen and stage actor Alec Baldwin will host The New York Philharmonic This Week, the Orchestra’s national radio broadcast, for the second season.
