Angela Bassett, Sean Combs, Taye Diggs, Jennifer Hudson, Phylicia Rashad And More Win NAACP Image Awards

The 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards were held on February 12 in Los Angeles. The show, which aired on FOX, was hosted by Tyler Perry and Halle Berry.

ABC’s telefilm of A Raisin in the Sun, which starred Sean Combs, Saana Lathan, Audra McDonald, Phylicia Rashad, and Sean Patrick Thomas was named Outstanding Television Movie, Miniseries or Special, and Combs and Rashad won awards for their performances.

Other acting winners in the television categories included Angela Bassett (ER), Taye Diggs (Private Practice), Hill Harper (CSI :New York), and Chandra Wilson (Grey’s Anatomy).

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson won three awards in the Recording categories, including Best Album, Best New Artist, and another award or her duet with Fantasia. Other winners in the music categories included Jamie Foxx, Beyonce, and Natalie Cole.

In the film categories, The Secret Life of Bees, Slumdog Millionaire, and The Class all took top honors, with acting awards bestowed on Seven Pounds stars Will Smith and Rosario Dawson, as well as Columbus Short (Cadillac Records) and Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
