Glee, Alec Baldwin, Michael C. Hall, Meryl Streep, et al. Win Golden Globe Awards

The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom on Sunday, January 17 and broadcast live on NBC. Ricky Gervais hosted the ceremony.

Avatar was named Best Picture, Drama and The Hangover won the award for Best Picture, Comedy or Musical. James Cameron was named Best Director for Avatar, while Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner won Best Screenplay for Up in the Air.

In addition, Up was named Best Animated Film, while The White Ribbon won the award for Best Foreign Film. “The Weary Kind,” from the film Crazy Heart (by Ryan Bingham and T-Bone Burnett) was named Best Original Song, while Best Original Score was given to Michael Giacchino for Up. Director Martin Scorcese was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement.

In television categories, Glee won the award for Best Comedy or Musical; Mad Men won the award for Best Drama; and HBO’s Grey Gardens was named Best Mini-Series or Movie.

Acting winners this year included Kevin Bacon (Taking Chance), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Drew Barrymore (Grey Gardens), Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Toni Collette (United States of Tara), Robert Downey, Jr. (Sherlock Holmes), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), John Lithgow (Dexter), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Mo’Nique (Precious), Chloe Sevigny (Big Love), Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia), and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds).

Presenters included Amy Adams, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Bartha, Kristin Bell, Halle Berry, Josh Brolin, Gerard Butler, Cher, Bradley Cooper, Chace Crawford, Robert DeNiro, Cameron Diaz, Leonard DiCaprio, Colin Farrell, Harrison Ford, Jodie Foster, Matthew Fox, Jennifer Garner, Mel Gibson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Lauren Graham, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Sally Hawkins, Ed Helms, Felicity Huffman, Kate Hudson, Samuel L.
