Just A Little Request

Betty Buckley, Shelley Burch, Jason Danieley, Tony DeSare, Christine Ebersole, Amanda Green, Ute Lemper, Amanda McBroom, Jane Monheit, Joan Rivers, and Natalie Toro are some of the stars appearing around town this month.

Here she is, boys, here she is world, here she is: Betty Buckley, who’s bringing her popular Broadway by Request to Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency (February 10-March 7), following the engagement of popular jazz singer Jane Monheit (through February 7).

The city’s two other major rooms are spotlighting their own worthy talents.
The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel is presenting two young artists, Tony DeSare (February 3-21) and Sheera Ben-David (February 24-March 7), while the swanky Café Carlyle offers Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole’s sensational new show (through February 11), followed by the great international chanteuse Ute Lemper (February 17-March 7).

The always exciting performers at Birdland include songwriter Amanda Green with a slew of celebrity friends (February 2), the new Broadway Jukebox series (February 8, 15, 22), singer-songwriters Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich (February 9), Hilary Kole with special guest John Pizzarelli (February 10-14), Katie Thompson (February 16), Bobby Caldwell and his Big Band (February 18-21), and Jason Danieley & The Frontier Heroes (February 23).

The Metropolitan Room continues to bring in some of the country’s finest acts including Annie Ross (February 3, 10, 17, 24), Mary Foster Conklin (February 6-7), Amanda McBroom (February 11-14), Suzanne Carrico (February 12), Jenna Esposito (February 14), Jamie deRoy & Friends, with special guests including Rex Reed, Gay Marshall, and Stephen Schwartz (February 16), Anne Steele (February 18-22), Natalie Toro (February 21, 27), Judy Blazer (February 24), and Shelly Burch (February 25-28).

Joe’s Pub‘s something-for-everyone offerings include appearances by Allen Touissant (February 1, 15), Kate McGarry (February 2), Jamie Leonhart (February 5), Our Hit Parade with Bridget Everett, Kenny Mellman, and Neal Medlyn (February 16), Colman Domingo (February 23), Fountains of Wayne (February 25-26), and Rachel Garniez & The Fortunate Few (February 27-28).

At the West Bank Cafe’s Laurie Beechman Theatre this month, one can watch Steven Lutvak (February 1), Brandon Cuttrell (February 5, 13), Jackie Draper (February 8), Lisa Asher (February 14), Will Trice (February 15, 22), and Victoria Edwards (February 27-28).

Elsewhere across town, at the Triad, the hilarious Celebrity Autobiography: In Their Own Words continues its star-studded Monday night run (February 1, 8, 15, 22); Ars Nova hosts TastiSkank (February 14) and Our Lady J (February 18); and the Slipper Room presents Joan Rivers (February 3, 10, 17, 24).

Heading across the country, The Colony Hotel’s Royal Room in Palm Beach, Florida delights audiences with Sylvia McNair (February 3-February 7), Faith Prince (February 10-21), and Jack Jones (February 24-28); while San Francisco’s Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko hosts the great Paula West (February 3-March 22), KT Sullivan (February 9-10), and Sally Kellerman (February 16-17).
