Directors Guild of America and Writers Guild of America Nominations Are Announced

The Directors Guild of America has announced its nominations, with the awards to be handed out January 31 in Los Angeles.

This year’s nominees for feature film directing are Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon), Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), and Gus Van Sant (Milk).

In the television categories, notable nominees include Bob Balaban (Bernard and Doris), Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun), Paris Barclay (In Treatment and Weeds), Don Scardino (30 Rock), and Glenn Weiss (The 62nd Annual Tony Awards)

As previously announced, The Writers Guild of America has announced the nominations for Best Screenplay, to be handed out on February 7 at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.

Nominees for Best Original Screenplay are Woody Allen (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Dustin Lance Black (Milk), Joel and Ethan Coen (Burn After Reading), Thomas McCarthy (The Visitor), and Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler).

Nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay are Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire), Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon), Jonathan and Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight), Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and John Patrick Shanley (Doubt).
