Actress Darlene Conley, beloved by soap opera fans for her Emmy Award-nominated role as fashion designer Sally Spectra on CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful, died on January 14 at the age of 72. She had been suffering from stomach cancer.

Conley appeared on Broadway as Sylvia Miles' understudy in the role of Maxine Faulk in the 1976 revival of Tennessee Williams' The Night of the Iguana. She worked locally in her native Chicago as a teenager, before trying her hand in films and television in the early 1960s. Her credits include Faces and The Choice.

In addition to her work on The Bold and the Beautiful, she was best known for her role as Rose DeVille on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless. She also appeared on Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and Capitol.

She is survived by her son, Raymond Woodson, and her sisters Carol Fontana and Sharon Wilson.
