Robert Prosky and Jana Robbins Headline Cast of Arena Stage’s Awake and Sing!

Robert Prosky and Jana Robbins are heading the cast of the Arena Stage production of Clifford Odets’ Depresion-era drama Awake and Sing!, January 20-March 5. The show is being directed by Zelda Fichandler, the theater’s co-founder and former producing director.

The cast also features Richard Canzano, Adam Dannheisser, Adam Green, Hugh Nees, Brian Reddy, Steve Routman and Miriam Silverman. The creative team includes Andromache Chalfant (set design), Linda Cho (costume design), Allen Lee Hughes (lighting design), and Marc Gwinn (sound design).

Prosky, who is playing Jacob, has worked with Arena Stage for more than four decades. He is a two-time Tony Award nominee for Glengarry Glen Ross and A Walk in the Woods and has also been seen on Broadway in Democracy, Twelve Angry Men, and A View from the Bridge. Robbins, who is playing Bessie, has starred on Broadway in Gypsy and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife.

This spring, New York’s Lincoln Center Theatre will also present a Broadway revival of the show, starring Lauren Ambrose, Ben Gazzara, and Zoe Wanamaker, and directed by Bartlett Sher.
