Emmy Award winner Joe Spano will play Shakespeare while Tony nominee Harry Groener will play Richard in the Geffen Playhouse production of Bill Cain's Equivocation, to run November 17-December 20, with an opening on November 18. David Esbjornson will direct.

The play, which will also be seen at Manhattan Theatre Club next year, is set in the early 1600's and focuses on what happens when a member of King James' court attempts to commission a play about the Gunpowder Plot, in which plans were laid to blow up Parliament, from Shakespeare.

The cast will also include Patrick J. Adams (Sharpe), Troian Bellisario (Judith), Brian Henderson (Armin), and Connor Trinneer (Nate). The production will also feature a set design by Esbjornson, costumes by Frances Kenny, lighting by Scott Zielinski, and sound by Jon Gottlieb.
