Los Angeles Theatre Center Announces 2011 Fall Season

The Los Angeles Theatre Center has announced its fall season, entitled Face of the World 2011.

The season will kick off with the California International Theatre Festival (September 8-11), produced in association with the Latino Theater Company. Festival presentations will include Komitas’ 10 Commandments and Colors, by MIHR Theatre and Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance; The Cure For Everything, by writer-performer Maja Ardal; Café Burlesqu-O!, featuring Idris Goodwin and international guest artists, and directed by Joe Peracchio; Chaussee Interdite aux Pietons (Roadway Closed to Pedestrains), by Macadames in collaboration with the Luckman Performing Arts Center; How We Got On, by Idris Goodwin; The Global Stage- Theatre & Society in a Post 9/11 World, a panel discussion; The Perils of Politeness Live On, by Bianca Bagatourian; and a concert by Mariana Sadovska.

Additional works to be presented in the fall include Staff Benda Bilili, a group of Congolese musicians affected by polio (September 15); The Vault, a theatrical and musical performance art ensemble (September 15- October 8); The Sonneteer, written by Nick Salamone, directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera (October 7- 30); Juan and John, created and performed by Roger Guenveur Smith (October 14- November 6); Hope – Part II of A Mexican Trilogy, written by Evelina Fernandez, directed by Jose Luis Valenzuel (October 21- November 13); Pity the Proud Ones, written by Kurt Maxey, directed by Ben Guillory (October 21- November 13); Short Eyes, written by Miguel Pinero, directed by Julian Acosta (November 18- December 11); La Virgen De Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin, adapted from Nican Mopohua by Evelina Fernandez, directed by Jose Luis Valenzuela (December 8-9).

In addition, the season will include a staged reading of Iron Eyes, written by Hanay Geiogamah, and directed by Kimberly Norris, with dates to be announced. The piece is an exploration of the life and times of the late legendary actor Iron Eyes Cody.
