PHOTO FLASH: Carol Channing Honored with Golden Baton Award

Broadway legend Carol Channing received The Golden Baton Award at the Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra’s 74th Anniversary Concert Spectacular at The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, held on Sunday, June 5.

The evening’s Master of Ceremonies was Wink Martindale, while Gary S. Greene conducted the orchestra. Also honored was Emmy-winning composer Charles Fox, who received an award for outstanding career achievement and conducted some of his hit compositions at the event.

Channing won the Tony Award for Hello, Dolly! and also appeared on Broadway in The Vamp, Lend an Ear, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She received an Oscar nomination for Thoroughly Modern Millie.
