Stage and screen star Ilene Graff will be among the special guests at the fourth annual José Iturbi International Music Competition, which will conclude with a voice competition on Friday, June 18 and a piano competition on Saturday, June 19. Both events will take place at UCLA’s Schoenberg Hall.

Graff is perhaps best known from her work on television’s Mr. Belvedere. Her Broadway credits include Promises, Promises, the original production of Grease, and I Love My Wife. Guests will also include Romi Dames, who plays Traci on Hannah Montana and musical director Ben Lanzarone.

Judges at the competition include David Pollack, Jorge Mester, Lalo Schifrin, Mark Swed, Ilana Vered, Matthew Epstein, David Daniels, Marilyn Horne, Peter Kazaras, and Carol Vaness. The collaborator/accompanist for the final round of competition is Martin Katz.

The competition includes two first place prizes of $10,000 in each category (one for a pianist and one for a singer). There are also two People’s Choice prizes of $5,000, which are voted on during the final competition round by the “live” audience.
