Dael Orlandersmith’s Stoop Stories, along with her previously announced Bones, will be part of Center Theatre Group’s DouglasPlus series at the Kirk Douglas Theatre this summer, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Stoop Stories will run July 7-11 and be directed by Jo Bonney. In it, the writer-performer revisits the New York neighborhoods of her youth, playing multiple characters, including a rocker-turned-junkie, a bright girl corrupted by an addict and a jazz-loving Holocaust survivor who once met Billie Holiday. The piece was seen in 2008 at the Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival and premiered at the Studio Theatre in Washington in 2009.

Bones, to run July 30-August 8, focuses on a woman and her adult son and daughter, all of whom meet in a shabby airport hotel to confront troubling memories from their family’s past. Gordon Edelstein will direct the production.

Orlandersmith won an Obie Award for Beauty’s Daughter. Her other plays include the Pultizer Prize finalist Yellowman, as well as Monster, The Gimmick, The Blue Album (created in with David Cale), Horsedreams and Suicide Girlz.
