Works by Annie Baker, Gina Gionfriddo, Sarah Ruhl, et al. Part of South Coast Repertory’s 2010-2011 Season

South Coast Repertory has announced the majority of its 2010-2011 season, which will begin with a production of George Bernard Shaw’s Misalliance (September 10 – October 10), on the Segerstrom Stage, to be directed by Martin Benson.

Next will be Gina Gionfriddo’s modern comedy of manners, Becky Shaw (October 22 – November 21), directed by Pam McKinnon. Other offerings in the coming year in this space will be A Midsummer Night’s Dream (January 21 – February 20), directed by Mark Rucker; Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain, directed by David Emmes, and the theater’s annual production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol (November 27 – December 26), adapted by Jerry Patch and directed by John-David Keller. In addition, the company will produce one other piece in the theater which will be announced shortly.

On its Julianne Argyros Stage, SCR will produce Sarah Ruhl’s In the Next Room, or the vibrator play (September 26 – October 17), directed by Casey Stangl; Annie Baker’s Circle Mirror Transformation (January 9 – January 30), directed by Sam Gold; and two more plays to be announced at a later date.

The theater’s season will be rounded out with three Theatre for Young Audiences productions, including Sideways Stories from Wayside School (November 5-21), Douglas Irvine’s adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan (February 11-27); and Bill Russell, Henry Krieger and Jeffrey Hatcher’s musical Lucky Duck (May 20 – June 5).
